MSWA appoints new President

31 October 2013

George Pampacos has been appointed the new President of the Board of Directors for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Western Australia (MSWA). Prior to this appointment, George had been on the MSWA Board for four years.

“I’m honoured and excited about being chosen as the MS Society’s new President. It’s a cause very close to me; my mother was diagnosed with MS when I was 14 years old, and since then a good mate from school and other relatives have been diagnosed as well,” said George.

George, who is a Director at Flinders Financial, replaces David Barnes who retired after holding the position of MSWA’s President for the past 13 years.

“I’d like to thank David for his passion and commitment to MSWA, and it must be noted that during his time as President the organisation has grown immensely. In recent years, we have greatly increased the levels of service and support we offer to people with MS and other neurological conditions, their families and carers,” said MSWA CEO Marcus Stafford.

“Over the past four years George has already made an incredible contribution to the MS Society and as we continue our growth, there’s no doubt that his commercial and financial background will prove invaluable.”

Looking to the future, Mr Pampacos believes that the MS Society will have an important role to play in helping to deliver services as the State Government restructures its disability accommodation services and the Federal Government rolls out the National Disability Insurance Scheme.

“I believe the MS Society can rightly promote itself as the leading provider of support and services for people in Western Australia with MS and other neurological conditions. We provide affordable, first class care and accommodation services and I think there is definitely an opportunity for us to expand our services,” added George.
