Generous donation received from cultural event organisers

In October last year, Lalit Doolabh and his music band, Sweet Melodies, organised a community fundraising event – Navrang - to celebrate the Hindu festival Navrati. The event was held over four nights, and the group very generously chose MSWA as one of two charities to raise money for.

The event was a great success with crowds of up to 650 attending. MSWA Occupational Therapy manager Sandy Wallace attended the event to deliver a speech to the crowd as well as perform the Arti, a candle lighting ceremony.

The group aimed to raise enough money to purchase a pressure mattress for the Treendale Gardens respite facility in Bunbury. They exceeded this goal, raising a fantastic $3,500. The pressure mattress will help in the reduction of pain and pressure sores in MS patients. The remaining funds will go towards similar items to help ease some of the physical symptoms experienced by people living with MS.

Last week, Lalit and his group presented the cheque to Sandy Wallace at the Wilson Outreach Centre. They also had the opportunity to see a pressure mattress in action, as well as take a tour around the centre to learn how MSWA assists Members. They were able to see first-hand how money raised from community events such as theirs make a real difference to the quality of life for MSWA Members.

MSWA greatly appreciates the generosity and support of Lalit and his group, who are planning more fundraising activities for the MS Society this year.
