MSWA is proud to announce the launch of construction for the Montario Quarter, a significant milestone in our ongoing commitment to supporting individuals with neuro conditions or spinal cord injuries in WA.

The construction launch event, held on 8 May, 2024 was a resounding success, marking a pivotal moment in this important community development. The ceremony featured a Turning of the Sod, symbolising the start of the construction phase, and was attended by key stakeholders and supporters. The event underscored the collaborative efforts that have brought this project to fruition.

The new facility, which will be overseen by MSWA's team of allied health and clinical professionals, will prioritise the accommodation of Quadriplegic Centre Clients, including Enzo, Celia, and Angelo who helped celebrate the construction launch.

MSWA's $12.8 million investment, supplemented by $14 million from the Department of Health, brings the total investment in this long-awaited project to $26.8 million.

"We recognise the urgent need for more comprehensive independent living options for individuals with disabilities," said Melanie Kiely, CEO of MSWA.

"This investment reaffirms our dedication to improving the lives of those we support in the WA community.”

With 20 state-of-the-art apartments, the Montario Quarter will offer long-term, high support living options that promote independence in daily activities.

Steve Corbett, Manager Property Development and Construction, highlighted the unique features of the facility.

“This ultra-modern Shenton Park facility will present a unique style of accommodation choice that would otherwise not be available in the West Australian market.

“Over many years, MSWA has enhanced important design features in each new development. We pride ourselves on listening to residents, staff, and visitors, making changes that work best for everyone’s needs.

“This continuous cycle of improvement makes MSWA accommodation better than the typical standards and codes buildings must comply with. Passive building elements and assistive technology will be a welcomed convenience for Quad Centre residents, as will the landscaped gardens within and surrounding their new homes."

MSWA will provide 24-hour care, seven days a week through its dedicated team to ensure top-tier support for all residents.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to the residents and carers of the Quadriplegic Centre for their patience and ongoing contributions to the development process, as well as to the Department of Health, and the MSWA community whose backing has made this impactful investment possible.

We look forward to the completion of Montario Quarter and the positive impact it will have on the lives of its future residents.
