Diving into the 14th MSWA Albany Swim
On 14 March 2026, the Great Southern community celebrated the annual MSWA Albany Swim for the 14th year! Held at the Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre, more than 120 participants across nine teams swam together to support West Aussies living with neurological conditions.
Together, our incredible participants swam a combined total of 10,321 laps and the event raised a total of $37,795 thanks to our generous supporters and amazing fundraisers. This year also marked a special milestone for the event, with the City of Albany entering a team into the swim for the very first time! Plus, our very own CEO Melanie Kiely was spotted doing laps all day long in the pool!
We would also like to acknowledge some impressive fundraising and swimming efforts from the day:
-
Highest Fundraiser: Rechelle Wright, raising an incredible $3,760.
-
Highest Fundraising Team: Team Marines, with a total of $12,100.
-
Most Laps Swum: Albany & Mt Barker Swim Club, swimming a total of 1,603 laps over the day.
Rechelle has been the highest fundraiser of the event for four consecutive years. She initially got involved in support of a close friend living with MS and has now participated for over a decade. She describes Albany Swim as a moving experience to be shared with friends, family and the wider community. Rechelle shared:
The Albany Swim has become a deeply meaningful part of my life, not just as a swimmer, but as someone who, through this event, has found purpose, connection and hope.”
"The strong sense of community is what keeps me inspired and coming back year after year."
A massive thank you to every swimmer, volunteer, fundraiser, supporter and sponsor who helped make this year’s event such a success. Special thanks to the City of Albany for its continued support, along with CBD Architects, Moss Conveyancing, Wiz Loans, First National and the many generous local businesses backing the event year after.
