Another incredible year for Step Up

This year’s event raised nearly $245K, thanks to our partners, Retravision, City of Perth, Central Park and our incredible community of participants, fundraisers and donors. 

A special thank you goes to Retravision for helping bring our Spin to Win marquee activation to life. As our official Matched Giving Partner, Retravision’s support not only boosted our fundraising efforts but also created one of the biggest highlights of the day. The marquee was buzzing all morning, with hundreds of participants stopping by to spin the wheel, win prizes and soak up the atmosphere. 

Event day was electrifying, with families, friends, colleagues and volunteers cheering climbers on from the ground all the way to the roof of Central Park Tower! While it was absolutely freezing at the top, many braved the cold to cross the finish line and were rewarded with breathtaking views of Perth’s spectacular skyline. Participant Di shared of her experience, “this year was my 15th year taking part in the Step Up challenge, I am mainly doing this for my sister with MS. This is a very meaningful cause and it’s so close to my heart!” 

Events like Step Up simply wouldn’t be possible without our generous community, including our partners, suppliers, volunteers and most importantly our participants who put themselves out there to take on the challenge! A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who took part in making the event another outstanding success. Together, we’ve shown that every step makes a difference.

This year’s Step Up also became a launchpad for a partnership with the Perth 2027 World Police and Fire Games (WPFG), one of the world’s largest multi-sport events.

MSWA is proud to be a Community Partner of the World Police and Fire Games 2027 and to celebrate this special collaboration, MSWA Step Up 2027 will move from its usual June date to Sunday, 21 March. This one-off change coincides with the World Police and Fire Games Stair Race and gives our participants the opportunity to share the stage with an international competition. 

The WPFG brings together thousands of police officers, firefighters, paramedics, emergency service personnel and volunteers from more than 70 countries to Perth.

By aligning our event with WPFG, we’re creating a unique opportunity to showcase the impact of MSWA and raise awareness of neurological conditions on an international stage. Together, we’ll be part of a weekend that celebrates resilience, determination, community and service – values that are at the heart of both events. 

“This partnership represents an exciting opportunity to bring the World Police and Fire Games down under for the first time in decades,” shared Games Executive Director and WA Police Force Inspector Jeremy Petersen. 

“We are set to welcome around 20,000 visitors from across the world to WA, and through our partnership with MSWA we will help raise awareness for Western Australians living with neurological conditions on a global stage.”
