The power of connection

You can't underestimate the power of community. These peer support groups are organised by people living with neurological conditions, for people living with neurological conditions, as a safe place to share your experience, ask questions, pool resources and find new connections with people on a similar journey.

MSWA After Hours

This new program is all about having the chance to feel seen, heard and supported - all over a sneaky drink after work! MSWA After Hours brings together like-minded working professionals navigating a neurological diagnosis in a fun, easy-going setting (complete with cocktails) to create a community of support.

We know there are many people living with MS and other neuro conditions in our community who require low-to-no direct care services from MSWA – thanks to the amazing leaps forward in treatment options made possible through research. But what these guys are missing is the opportunity to connect with others on a similar journey – figuring out who you are amidst a diagnosis while juggling work, kids and everything else life has to throw at you.

Our Perth group currently meets every second month and new faces are always welcome! Interested to join the crew? Submit an expression of interest.

Following the success of our Perth pilot, we are now looking to create new groups in the Peel (Mandurah/Rockingham) and South West (Collie, Bunbury, Vasse, Margaret River) regions. If you live in these areas and are keen to get involved - or know someone who is - we'd love to hear from you.

I used to think no one looks like me, no one is having the same experiences as me, but then I met someone [at After Hours] who had been diagnosed earlier than me. I told him how I've been feeling and his eyes just lit up. He said, ‘That’s exactly how I felt.’ It was such a relief.

Butler Art Club

Join us on a creative and social journey at MSWA Butler. This Client-led initiative is free for participants and aims to bring together a local community of creatives.

The MSWA Butler Art Club is a group of people living with neurological conditions, and their carers, who meet weekly to socialise and get creative with painting, crafting and other forms of expression.

All members of the group are involved in determining what artform will be explored each term and provide artistic guidance and support to one another.

The club has four terms throughout the year, with two-week breaks between each term and a larger break at year's end. During the term the group meets weekly on Monday afternoons from 1pm to 3pm. Resources are provided by MSWA.

Butler too far away, but interested in starting an art group near you? Email us at [email protected]

MSWA Mother's Group

Calling all new mums! The journey into motherhood is a completely life-changing experience. Navigating this beautiful, but overwhelming change can be even more difficult when you are also coming to terms with a neurological condition. But you aren't alone. Having someone else to talk to who understands your experience can make all the difference.

Our team is in the process of setting up a new Mothers' group program in 2026, to help connect mums across our neuro community. To help us do this, we are currently gathering interest from mums - just like you! - to make it possible.

Fill out the form below to express your interest and help us plan this new initiative.

It’s good because everybody understands. We honestly talk about MS for maybe 10 minutes, then it is all about us.

When people first come to the club, they know there is no judgement. There are lots of new people all the time and we catch up once a month at a local restaurant or café. It’s really fun!
