Margaret Doody’s brand-new look!

Clients have been amazed by the summer transformation of Margaret Doody House, which now boasts a modern kitchen and refreshed landscaping throughout.

Respite Manager Nelly Higginson said the changes made it so much easier for staff and Clients to access and enjoy – and was good to look at too!

“It all looks so much more modern and every Client who has visited since we re-opened has loved it – there have been so many positive comments,” she said.

“The Facilities Team has done a great job as usual; they even picked the most amazing splash back which we all love!

“But not only have we had the kitchen done, we’ve also been working on the courtyard with some replanting, with the aim of creating a nicer environment for Clients to go out and enjoy – somewhere that looks lovely and relaxing, but also smells wonderful.”

The entrance wasn’t forgotten in the upgrades, sowing the seeds for big future plans.

“The idea is that when you come in in a year or so, visitors will come in through a hedged driveway to provide a grand entrance for our visitors,” she said.

These are the latest in a string of refurbishments, which started with a flooring upgrade two years ago and continued with a laundry and bathroom refresh last year.

“We had a lady who hadn’t visited in 12 months, and she was just blown away when she came in,” Nelly said.

“Everything we do is to ensure the Client experience at respite leaves them feeling really good about their stay – it is so important to all of us and is what we strive to achieve.

“It’s an amazing energy in the house, with everyone making connections and new friends. Every day there is laughing and joking, and when they leave they exchange numbers to stay in touch.

“For me, this is why I do what I do.”
