2024 National Volunteers Week - Growing Together
National Volunteers Week is an important opportunity to reflect on the significant impact our MSWA volunteers have on our community. This year’s national theme, ‘Something for Everyone’, highlights the potential of each of us to volunteer, whether in a big or small ways, as a one-time effort or constant commitment. There is something each of us can do to make a difference.
On 21 May, MSWA volunteers were invited to join us for the Volunteer Appreciation Lunch at the RAAFA Club in Bull Creek. Thirty-five volunteers attended, and each volunteer was presented with a volunteer appreciation certificate along with a ‘grow jar’ and the 2024 Volunteering Australia lapel pin.
Each grow jar contained different fruit or vegetable seeds, from basil to strawberry, coriander and sunflower. These jars each had a message attached, ‘thank you for growing with us’, representing the integral role volunteers play in helping MSWA grow and our ability to provide services to the neurological community of WA.
During the luncheon, we also celebrated the incredible milestones achieved by our volunteers, including:
- Sister Marie Moriarty, volunteering for nearly 30 years
- Lesley Pitt, volunteering for 18 years
- Claire Kennelly, volunteering for 15 years
Whether it’s just for one day or decades of service, MSWA extends our gratitude and thanks to every single volunteers. We couldn’t do what we do without you!
