Walk for a cure: Daniel’s inspiring journey

MSWA Client, Daniel and his family.

Denmark local Daniel Mastalerz has always led an active lifestyle, including ten years of service in the Royal Australian Army. After leaving the Army, Daniel received a life-changing diagnosis of MS at just 39 years old.

For some, such news might be a reason to slow down. But not Daniel. His determination to keep moving forward sparked the idea of organising a walk that would raise awareness and funds for MSWA.

On Saturday, 4 October, surrounded by friends and family, Daniel’s vision came to life. Starting from Berridge Park in the Denmark town centre, the group completed a 3.6km round trip to the river's mouth and back.

This is not just a walk for me; it is a statement that no matter what life throws my way, I will keep fighting.

Every step is a step towards hope, better treatment and ultimately a step towards a cure,” said Daniel.

Thanks to the incredible support of Daniel’s community, an impressive $2,500 was raised to support MSWA’s work in providing care, raising awareness and funding vital research.

Thank you, Daniel, for your strength, leadership and unwavering commitment. You’ve inspired us all, and we’re so proud to have you as part of the MSWA community.
