Power in numbers: Our community fundraisers
Taylah makes strides for MS
Always be positive no matter what life throws at you” is a motto Taylah Read lives by.
A passionate and talented soccer athlete, Taylah was nearly scouted by the United States team when a series of injuries halted her dreams. It was only this year, after many tests and scans, she received her MS diagnosis, and this drove her desire to make a significant impact on the community.
Taylah has set an ambitious goal to walk from the Mandurah Foreshore to the Fremantle Markets in November. The 60km journey is both a personal challenge and a powerful way for her to raise awareness and funds for MS research.
Taylah’s father, an avid soccer referee and jogger, will also be joining her on the fundraiser walk. She warmly invites anyone to join her - even if only for a short stretch of the journey! To prepare for the challenge, Taylah partakes in daily walks, along with her regular yoga and Pilates sessions.
“I hope by doing this fundraiser I can bring awareness to MS, and to those who are suffering with MS like me, I hope this lifts their spirit and shows them that nothing is impossible,” Taylah said.
Let’s rally behind Taylah and support her incredible journey on 16 November. Every step she takes is a stride toward hope and a cure for MS!

Megan goes the distance for MS
Flying 14,663km from the UK back home to Perth, Megan participated in her very first half marathon event in support of her close childhood friend, Jo, who has MS.
The marathon provided Megan and her husband with a valuable opportunity to fundraise for MS, and they raised almost $500.
There’s no rest for the wicked, as Megan is already training for her next challenge—the UK MS Society Half Marathon, happening in April 2025.
We wish Megan the best of luck with her next endeavours and thank both her and her husband for their tremendous efforts!
Faulkner House cooks up a storm!
As part of their fundraising efforts for MSWA Step Up, Hale School students hosted a pancake fundraiser at the school’s sports carnival on 20 August 2024.
Under the guidance of Head of Faulkner Senior Boarding House TJ Steenekamp, the students went into a flipping frenzy to feed hungry lines of students in hope to bring their grand fundraising total to $10,000 for MSWA Step Up!
What a fantastic effort to these apprentice chefs and thank you for supporting MSWA!
Leeming Retirement Village Dinner
We would like to give a special mention to the residents of the Leeming Retirement Village who chose MSWA as their charity of choice for their annual charity fundraiser.
The fundraising dinner was held on 26 July 2024 and raised a total of $1,000.
The cause is close to many of the residents’ heart, so we would like to thank all the event attendees who came to share a meal and take their chances in the raffles.
Remembering Kevin: Our MS track star
Busselton hotfoot and thrill seeker, Kevin Bell, channeled his love for racing into a remarkable community fundraiser through his Charity Rides.
Kevin was often seen racing on speedway circuits with his Super Sedan. He first took to the speedway track in Ellenbrook almost 40 years ago, when he was just 16, in an EH Holden with a red motor.
Kevin was known for his Charity Rides, where he would invite passengers to experience a few thrilling laps around the racecourse in his Super Sedan to raise money for various charities.
Kevin actively raised awareness for MS and MSWA in the community for years. The cause was close to his heart, as Kevin’s mother lived with multiple sclerosis.
Upon hearing of his passing, MSWA would like to express our deepest appreciation andcondolences to the Bell family. We are grateful for Kevin’s incredible efforts throughout the years.
