Chloe's story

MSWA Member Chloe Baker Story

Chloe Baker is a bright and hardworking woman in her 30's who has built her life based on a positive attitude and determination.

She was living in New Zealand in 2017, running a cosmetic business with her partner Shaun, when her vision became impaired and she started feeling fatigued.

The biggest shock was seeing the lesions on my brain and spine, I wasn’t prepared for that - it was the one time I cried.

After adjusting to her multiple sclerosis (MS) diagnosis, Chloe’s mum reached out to MSWA on her behalf. That first phone call from the MSWA team was very impactful. To hear a reassuring voice that could answer her questions helped to not feel so alone.

Life for Chloe is a little different since her diagnosis, monthly infusions can be exhausting but her body is responding positively. Heat intolerance, double vision, fatigue and anxiety are her daily battles but living a healthy lifestyle is something Chloe now takes seriously, including no alcohol and in bed before 9 o’clock.

“If I don’t get a good night sleep, the next day can be a struggle. If my body gets hot, it’s ten times worse and I need to close one eye to see where I’m going,” said Chloe.

Whilst facing life with MS seemed daunting at first, Chloe embraced the challenges and is now helping others with the condition, to live positively through her ‘My MS blog’.

“I’m really passionate about promoting my journey with MS in a positive and relatable way. I hope my story can create awareness and encourage people to donate towards funding research, and one day find a cure for MS,” said Chloe.
