MSWA to build new northern suburbs facility

14 February 2017

MSWA is excited to be developing a new Member Services facility in Perth’s Northern Suburbs in the community of Butler.

The project received approval from the North West Joint Development Assessment Panel in December and timelines are now being set for this very exciting project.

The facility will be an MSWA Services Hub and supported accommodation. The centre will include a purpose built, fully accessible facility providing services and supports to people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and other neurological conditions in Perth’s northern suburbs.

The services provided will include, but are not limited to:

  • Physiotherapy
  • Counselling
  • The MSWA Services Hub will provide a base for our nursing and allied health team who see people onsite and conduct home visits locally
  • MSWA will deliver outreach groups for people with disabilities, to participate in social engagement, as well as educational groups and sessions to provide information and learning

The development also includes a high support accommodation facility for people living with MS and other neurological conditions, in the northern suburbs. The accommodation facility will provide onsite 24-hour, 7-day a week care for younger people who may otherwise have had to move into an aged care facility to support their level of care needs. Residents will have their own fully contained unit, and shared communal areas for optional socialisation.

This format is very much in line with what MSWA has built in our Hamilton Hill and Treendale high support accommodation facilities.

MSWA CEO, Marcus Stafford says, “MSWA is thrilled to be able to create a tailor made facility for people living with neurological conditions in Perth’s northern suburbs.

“The designs will provide user accessibility, the highest quality and will be aesthetically considered to blend into the Butler surrounds. It is a very exciting project!

“As we have seen in our other facilities across WA, it is vital to have community based centres in a range of locations across the State to provide essential services and support to people with MS and other neurological conditions. We are particularly proud to deliver another purpose built, high support accommodation facility which is so important to keep younger people in their own environment getting the tailor made support they require.

“These developments are made possible by the ongoing support of MSWA by generous Western Australians. This is achieved through our very successful Mega Home Lotteries, events such as MSWA Ocean Ride and bequests and donations. We thank all of our supporters very much indeed”.
