MSWA’s commitment to research

18 December 2020

Did you know we are Western Australia’s leading contributor to neurological research? A title we are very proud to hold.

What does this mean?

Over the past 10 years, MSWA has funded over $20 million towards neurological research – making us the highest contributor in WA.

Why do we do it?

We believe that by doing so, we are one step closer to finding the cause, better treatments and hopefully one day a cure for neurological conditions, which gives hope to our Customers.

Who do we work with?

A range of prestigious local, national and international institutions.

Currently we fund projects being carried out by the Perron Institute, Edith Cowan University (ECU), Curtin University and the Telethon Kids Institute. We also contribute significant funding to MS Research Australia and the International Progressive MS Alliance.

To read more about these contributions, visit the Commitment to Research page of our website.

Collaborative forum

In December, we held a research forum where some of our local funded researchers got together to give a brief update on their research, share ideas and ask questions. After a morning of collaborative discussions and scientific talk, researchers had the opportunity to network with other MSWA funded researchers from some of the above institutions.

We look forward to the next forum!

Thanks to our investment into research, understanding of neurological conditions has significantly improved over the years. This investment would not be possible without Western Australians supporting our fundraising initiatives which allow MSWA funded researchers to continue their important work. Find out more here.
