Australian research projects progress with new funding

MSWA is the leading contributor to neurological research in WA, and the leading state contributor to MS Research Australia (MSRA), supporting MS research right across Australia.

MSWA Strategic Supports & Residential Options General Manager Sue Shapland works closely with the research committee of MSWA’s Board to recommend where and how MSWA’s research funds are allocated. Ms Shapland explained MSRA’s role is to evaluate opportunities and allocate funding to the most deserving multiple sclerosis (MS) projects.

“MSRA identify opportunities to fund targeted areas of interest to gain the greatest benefit for people living with MS,” said Ms Shapland.

“MSWA is proud of our capacity to increase our contribution year on year and for being the leading state contributor to MSRA for several years now.”

Earlier this month MSRA announced their $2.9m grants program for a range of research projects.

Some Western Australian MS research projects MSWA is currently funding through MSRA include:

A nominated portion of MSWA’s funding to MSRA also goes towards supporting the International Progressive MS Alliance.
