Albany Outreach Group
MS Society members from Albany and the surrounding areas meet every Friday at the local Recreation Centre on Barker Road.
It is essential that prior assessment and referral to the group is arranged through the SW Community Nurse 9721 3297. This ensures that the necessary requirements for the individual can be met and reduces overcrowding.
Services available at this location include:
- Access to the main gym; a reduction in fees can be negotiated with management and recreation staff who are aware of MS specific needs.
- Access to physiotherapy services is available to arrange assessments and advise on individual plans and programs. A Physiotherapist occasionally attends the Albany Centre but services can also be provided off site and by appointment. Access to these services must be pre-arranged through the SW Community Nurse 9721 3297 or the Physiotherapy Manager on 9365 4834. For further information click here.
- Massage: an important service for members, is subsidised by our fundraising and available at a significantly reduced cost to financial Members. Please contact Physiotherapy Manager on 9365 4834 for more information.
- Outreach Group runs on Fridays, providing socialisation, recreation and other opportunities (including guest speakers and occasional outings) with morning tea in a supported environment. If you would like more information about attending, please contact the SW Community Access Nurse 9721 3297.
- The SW Community Nurse visits the group every three months and the Perth based health team conduct an annual visit to Members in the area.
